Senior Business Architect

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a senior business architect to act as a bridge between business and technology units for our provincial government client in Edmonton, Alberta.

 

The candidate will have experience working with large-scale, multi-stakeholder engagements, gathering and analyzing business requirements for the implementation of a new enterprise information system. The candidate will assist in business re-engineering, and establishing standards, processes and procedures based on best practices that align with organizational objectives.

 

Duration

February 4, 2013 to January 31, 2015 with an additional 1-year extension to January 31, 2016.

Responsibilties

·         Successfully working with a team to ensure that all business requirements are met and accounted for within the new enterprise information management system.

·         Business analysis to define business and user needs and requirements.

·         Assisting with or leading the gathering and documenting of detailed business and functional requirements from stakeholders.

·         Identifying and documenting key business drivers, strategies, and requirements that affect the enterprise information management system.

·         Leading or assisting in communications activities.

·         Establishing and participating in process reviews, regular or ad-hoc reporting reviews, and issue management meetings, ensuring correct interpretation of functional requirements, business architecture, and system implementation.

·         Assisting with or facilitating workshops to gather requirements, including developing workshop materials, agenda and reports, as required.

·         Scheduling, organizing and attending project meetings.

·         Reviewing project management documentation (issues, changes and risks) and providing feedback.

·         Assisting the Department Project Manager with project coordination activities.

·         Documenting the results of the analysis, including business rules, workflow descriptions, BPMN diagrams, data definitions, test plans and test cases.

·         Preparing project documentation including but not limited to work requests, plan, status reporting and presentations.

·         Assisting in the development, review and update of project deliverables such as:

o   Business system option/configuration documents

o   Feasibility studies

o   Business, process and data models

o   Business requirements

o   Functional requirements

o   Data cleansing analysis and plans

o   Data quality plans

o   Work plans

o   Test plans

o   Training plans

o   Assist with user acceptance testing

·         Facilitating process design sessions to produce detailed process flows and associated documentation for the provision of capacity, financial and service related benefits.

·         Documenting existing and future-state business processes, defining and documenting functional requirements, conducting information flow analysis and process modeling for the purpose of best practice automation.

·         Participating with various business groups to redefine and map business processes, including records and information management processes and forms management requirements.

·         Identifying and managing business requirements (functional and non-functional) for translation to application specifications/configuration.

·         Analyzing process gaps, information flow obstacles or system issues and identification of opportunities for improvement to current state operations.

·         Participating/leading in the development of testing strategies, test plans, and test cases to ensure smooth transition into training and deployment phase.

·         Collaborating with project team members involved in solution implementation.

·         Supporting all business aspects related to the business solution including requirements, testing, training and implementation activities.

·         Participating in business re-engineering processes.

·         Designing Training Program(s) – working with the project team in preparing objectives, defining content and selecting and sequencing activities/

·         Training Task Analysis – identifying activities, tasks, sub-tasks, human resource and support requirements necessary to attain specific results.

·         Training Facilitators – managing group discussions and group processes, and the role of facilitating to translate the learning into practice.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

Mininum Experience

Demonstrated experience as a Business Analyst for similar projects as described in the Description of Services

Confirmation of the ability to perform the Services continuously for the duration of the initial term of 2 years
